March 16 - Last night we had a gale from the ESE, attended with snow. About midnight the fishing smack Sovereign, Captain Bailey, in reaching up the coast between Flamborough Head and Spurn Point, struck off Withernsea; all hands drowned except one boy; the vessel has gone to pieces.
