The Will of John Bebington
In the Name of God Amen, the twenty third day of July in the Seventh year of the Reign of our Sovereign Lord George by the Grace of God, of Great Brittain France and Ireland King Defender of the Faith Anno Domini 1733
I John Bebington of Bickley, in the Parish of Malpas and County of Chester, yeoman, being sick and weak in Body, but of sound and perfect Memory and calling to mind the uncertainty of this Mortal Life; do make and ordain this my last Will and Testament in form and Manner following -
that is to say, first I Commend my Soull to Almighty God trusting Through the Merits of Jesus Christ my Saviour to receive full and free pardon and forgiveness of all my Sins, and my Body I Commit to the earth to be decently buried at the discretion of my Executors hereafter named, and as for such Temporall Estate, as it hath pleased God to bless me with I do order and dispose of it in the Manner and form following.-
Imps. My Will is, that all my Debts, and funerall Expences be in the first place paid and discharged.-
Itm. I do give and Beqweath [sic] unto my Loving Wife Elizabeth Bebington and To my Son John Bebington, the Tenement now in the holding and Occupation of me, to be Injoyed by them both equally, and also all my Goods and Chattles, and if either happen to Marry, that he my said son John Bebington shall enjoy the Tenement, and all my Goods and Chattles, (except this Bed which which [sic] I now lie on, and Likewise a cow which she my daughter call hers I do give and beqweath unto my Daughter Elizabeth Bebington and likewise each of my younger sons Richard Bebington and Thomas Bebington to have each of them a Bed.) and that then he my said son John Bebington shall pay unto my Wife Elizabeth Bebington the sum four pounds yearly during her Life, and if it happens that my wife and my son shall part Asunder, that he my son John Bebington shall pay all my debts and Legacies -
Itm I do give and Bequeath unto my Daughter Elizabeth Bebington the sum of Twenty pounds, to be paid by my Son John Bebington at the end of 3 years after my decease, if she happen to marry, if not, at the end of 4 years after my decease, or my wife and him if they Continue together.-
Itm. I do give and Bequeath unto my Son Richard Bebington the sum of of [sic] ten pounds, to be paid by my son John Bebington, (or my wife and son if they Continue together) when he comes to the age of 22 years
Itm. I do give and bequeath unto [big blot covering words] Thomas Bebington the sum of ten pounds, to be paid by my son John Bebington (or my wife and son if they Continue together) when he comes to the age of 22 years -
Lastly, I do Nominate and appoint my Loving wife Elizabeth Bebington and my Son John Bebington to be Executors of this my last Will and Testament, In Witness whereof my hand and Seall I have hereunto set, this day and year first above written
