News Report of Death 6 August, 1940
Temperance Worker Passes.
One of the Dominion's most wholehearted
workers in the cause of Women's
Christian Temperance, Mrs. F. Bischoff,
of Hawera, died at her home
last week. She was the daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. J. Cocker, pioneer settlers
of Tarariaki, and passed her early
life on a bush farm at Ararata, then
out in "the wilds." In the cause of
temperance Mrs. Bischoff was Parliamentary
superintendent for the union
in South Taranaki for many years.
Latterly she was a semi-invalid, but
retained her interest in the cause until
the end. She read extensively and
painted efficiently in water colour and
oil.
