LOCAL CASUALTIES
Mrs A Coverdale,
22 Alma Street, has received official information that her
husband Lance-Sergeant A Coverdale,
Gloucestershire Regiment, was killed in action on March 22.
Lance Sergt Coverdale was 29 years of age, and before
enlisting was a sawyer in the employ of Messrs Geo. Horsley & Co.
He had been in France nearly two years and his officer, in a letter to his
widow, writes: "he was one of the best sergeants in the battalion, and was
liked and admired by all".
Mrs Coverdale
has received a message of royal sympathy.
KILLED IN ACTION

Killed in action on March 22, 1918,
Sergt Arthur Coverdale, the dearly
beloved son of the late Nicholas and Margaret Coverdale. Deeply regretted
by his loving brothers and sisters and brothers and sisters in law.
Sadly missed by all.
