1841-45 Studies in Marburg, Vienna and Berlin,

1847 Dr. iur., PD, Marburg.

His advocacy of a Prussian Empire forced him to depart. 1851 ao.

1864-95 Full Professor of Roman law, trade and foreign law at the Univ. Zurich (1884-86 President), from 1875 also a lecturer at the Federal Polytechnic.

Fick tried to apply Darwin's theory of the legal theory.

He was a sought-after expert who edited Railway Decrees and with Walter Munzinger the Obligations.
