On July 19, 2011, at the age of 101, Mom passed away peacefully at Riverview Health Centre.
Remaining to forever cherish her memory are Robert Jr. (Susan), George (Angie), Leonard (Marie-Paule), Karen (Michael), 15 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren and 28 foster children.
She was predeceased by her husband Robert Sr. in 1988 and two daughters, Betty & Ardis, who passed away much too soon.
Mom was born March 1, 1910 in Darlington, England. Her mother and siblings came to Canada during World War I in 1916. She met Robert Bye (also from England) in Winnipeg at a dance and they married in 1929.
Mom had a vision for FAMILY. 56 years ago she bought an acre of land at a popular beach resort where the family spends a good portion of the summer months. The cottage has led to the development and maintaining of close family ties. This will clearly be her legacy for generations to come!
Her obvious passion was children...especially babies. Her hands were never idle. She loved to bake, sew, knit, garden, do crossword, jigsaw puzzles and play bridge. Winning a game of scrabble with her was nearly impossible. She was truly remarkable as she still did ALL of these activities well into her 100th year!
Mom lived independently in her home till the end with the help of Homecare which she needed for a short time. The family also expresses their appreciation to the staff of Riverview for their compassionate care.
Words are not enough to express our gratitude to Harry & Dorrie for their constant devotion to Mom, right up until her final breath.
A celebration of Mom's life will be held on August 5th at 11:00 am at the Neil Bardal Funeral Centre, 3030 Notre Dame. The service will be followed by a reception and then the interment at 3:00 pm at Chapel Lawn, 4000 Portage. A Webcast of the service will be available at Neil Bardal Funeral Center website: nbardal.mb.ca
Mom lived her faith by offering her unconditional love and support to every individual who crossed her path.
We ARE missing you Mom, not to mention your banana cream pie!
In lieu of flowers, Mom would encourage you to share a smile and an extra hug with your loved ones.
