Edward John Friehold - the John is correct - died in 1916 of Tuberculosis. I have a picture of him in uniform and understand that he was in WW1 (where I think he picked up the TB).
Walter also died of TB - quite young I think, but as yet don't have a DOD.
The grandfather/father Ferdinand (born Lubeck 1833) was indeed a grocer. Ferdinand died in 1915 - quite a nice long life.
Mary Ann (nee Smith) (Ferdinands wife) died in 1896. I have a picture of Ferdinands grocer shop.
Poor Alice Gertrude lost her daughter Dorothy to TB at the age of 10 and then committed suicide due to marriage problems. (have not found marriage).
Edward George was a renowned book antiquarian (SP?) and if you search him in google, you'll find a 16th century bible for sale for $29000US that has sale receipts with a description of the bible in his handwriting (wish I had a spare 29,000).
Edwards wife was Alice Maud Berry, and Edward (the dad) was Edward George.
Ethel Caroline (maurices grandmother) hit huge depression after her sisters suicide and grace had to look after ethel mary ("alice" (her little sister)) and "alice" got quite badly undernourished. But all came good in the end.
