RADIO FOR HOSPITAL

SUVA ROTARY CLUB'S PROPOSAL

(From Our Own Correspondent.) SUVA, June 19.

Recognising that the patients at the War Memorial Hospital had a right to enjoy the benefits of broadcasting, the Suva Rotary Club decided to guarantee the raising of £150 to obtain an earphone service for the patients, and public subscriptions were invited.

To see the matter through, Mrs. Patience Waters, late of Drummoyne, Sydney, and a well-known political enthusiast in that electorate, took upon herself the task of securing the money. So far she has collected over £100, and the balance will soon come in. The scheme has been made possible by the kindness of the local branch of the A.W.A., which is waiting to supervise the installation of the plant, and which has offered the plant at cost price. In the War Memorial Hospital there will be 60 earphones.
