Notes
Exactly when and where George is born is uncertain.
When George marries Ann in 1838, their residence is possibly 31 Great Coram Street in Bloomsbury. The address on the certificate is difficult to read.
Great Coram street appears to be a relatively prosperous area. The 1841 census lists mainly professional occupations such as Merchant, Barrister, Solicitor, but also Journeyman Baker, Shoemaker.
In the 1841 census, George and Ann are living at Stockwell Green in Lambeth. Both say they are born in the same county - Surrey. There are two other households at the same address - a linen draper and a shop keeper. Other occupations listed nearby include a solicitor and a school master.
In the 1851 census, George and Ann are living at 42 New Compton Street, near Tottenham Court Road in modern day Camden. George says he was born in St Giles in the Fields - this is parish they are living in. 8 households with 24 people are listed at this address.
