The death took place on Friday at the age of 63 of Charles Gardener. In his long career he was a well-known comedian, who had an excellent name for dame characters. In 1870 he played his first pantomime engagement with G. Brydon Phillips, and by a strange coincidence his last engagement was whose "Red Riding Hood" he appeared up to January 16. He was a prominent Terrier, and was one of the founders of the old Music Hall Home. The funeral will take place to-day (Thursday) at Tooting, the cortege leaving 23, Grove Road, Brixton, at 1.45.
