Mrs. Joseph Gornell Succumbed Tuesday After Week's Illness
Mrs. Joseph Gornell, well known local woman, died Tuesday evening at her Antrim street home following a week's illness. Her sudden passing was a shock to her family and friends.
Alice Horne was born at Shipley, England, May 16, 1885. She was united in marriage to Joseph Gornell in the Bankfort Parish church, England, May 17, 1911. Mr. Gornell came to America in 1914, just before the declaration of war by Germany. Mrs. Gornell did not follow him until September, 1919. She came directly to Charlevoix and had since made her home here.
Mrs. Gornell is survived by her husband; a brother, Joseph Horne, England; two nieces, Mrs. Martin Doctor and Mrs. Harry Southerland, both of Muskegon.
She was an active member of the Congregational church, the Pilgrim Circle and Woman's Christian Temperance Union.
Definite funeral plans have not been made, but will probably be held Saturday at the Congregational church.
