DEATH FROM NEGLECT IN A MOTHER'S ARMS

Rose Mayersbeth, 27, who was found "Guity" of wilfully neglecting her infant daughter, was brought up for sentence at the Old bailey yesterday. Prisoner's husband had left her on account of her dirty habits, but he allowed her 27s. 6d. per week to support herself and her six children; he also paid the rent of her rooms in Shanklin-court, Broad-street, Lambeth. She seemed to have been a drunken, dissipated woman and left her children from morning to night. The infant died from neglect in her arms in the street. - The prisoner was sent to hard labour for nine months.
