Will of David Law 31 January 1818


In the Name of God Amen I David Law of Cross Street Blackfriars Road in the County of Surry Baker do make and publish this as my last Will and Testament in writing

First I direct all my Just Debts Funeral and Testamentary Expenses and the Charges of proving this my Will be paid by my Executrix and Executor hereinafter named

I also direct that I may be buried in Christchurch yard in the County of Surry in the same Grave as my late Wife and to be buried by Mr G William undertaker Fleet market

I also direct that my Executrix and Executor shall immediately after my decease sell out of the Bank of England all my share and interest in the Stock which I jointly hold with my brother David Robert Law and the product arising therefrom is to be solely and wholly applied to carry out the business now ??arised by me

I give devise and bequeath all my real and personal Estate and Effects of what nature or kind soever together with my two shares in the Eagle Insurance Fire Office unto Dear Wife Ann Law and my three Children David Law George Law and Sarah Law my daughter Frances Mary being apportioned in my life time I only give the Sum of Five pounds for mourning share and share alike

It is also my will and desire that my said Son David Law shall carry on my business as a Baker for the benefit and advantage of himself and my said Wife as long as she shall think proper to continue in the same but if she shall marry again it is my will and desire that no future husband shall have any Control over the said business or any advantage profit or emolument arising therefrom nor shall the same be liable to the Debts or Engagements of any husband nor shall the Share or Interest of my said wife to any part of my real or personal Estate be also liable to the Control debts or engagements of any future husband she might marry but the same shall be for her own sole and separate benefit

and it is also my will and desire that if my said Son George Law shall like to continue in the said business of a Baker he is then and in that Case to have an equal share in the same

and I hereby nominate constitute and appoint my said Wife Ann Law and my Son David Law Executrix and Executor of this my will hereby revoking all former Wills by me made In Witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this thirty first day of January One thousand eight hundred and eighteen

Signed Sealed published and declared by the Testator David Law as and for his last Will and Testament in the presence of us the word "David" being written upon an ???? who in his presence and in the presence of each other at his request have subscribed our names as Witnesses hereto

Proved at London 4th March 1818 before the worshipful Samuel ???parson Doctor of Laws and Surrogate by the Oath of Ann Law Widow the Relict and one of the Executors to whom Admon was granted being sworn duly to Administer power reserved to David Law the Son and other Executor.
