John's second son, Walter Wilmot Madden, succeeded to Roslea and also had a residence at Aghafin House in Co. Monaghan.
Walter was a lieutenant in the Royal Navy.
In 1913 he became a Fellow of the British Esperanto Association.
Born in 1853, he was married in 1866 to Eleanor, daughter of the artist Charles Ferdinand Bishoff of Woodland's Estate, Waiuku, New Zealand.
Bishoff's grandfather, Frederick Henry Bishoff was Occulist to Queen Charlotte.
Walter seems to have settled at Falcona, Otahuhu in Auckland, New Zealand and died on 26th December 1943.
Walter's eldest son Arthur Bishoff-Madden served with the 16th Waikato Regiment of the New Zealand forces in World War One, sold Rosela and settled in Auckland.
Walter's second son, Charles, also served with the New Zealand forces, as a Union Steamship Officer, and has descendents still living.
