The Rev. Charles Mason, who died in Epworth Hospital on Wednesday night, was born in England in 1863. Coming to Australia he began his ministry at Collingwood, and subsequently was stationed at Ballarat, Carlton, Greta, Nillumbick, and Bendigo. After leaving the last-named circuit he went to Tasmania, where he spent 14 years. On returning to Victoria he minister at Talbot, Beulah, Rochester, Womboota (N.S.W.), Scarsdale and Pyramid Hill. When he retired a few years ago he came to Echuca, where he endeared himself to the people of all denominations by his kindly nature and Christian forbearance. While in Echuca he made it his special duty to visit the sick and his cheery presence the burden of many a sufferer. He was also very highly esteemed by his brother clergymen.
The funeral takes place today at the Moama cemetery, and will be preceded by a short service, at 10.45 a.m, in the Echuca Methodist Church. The service will be attended by the President of the Methodist Conference, and the chairman of the Bendigo District.
