"Charles Mayersbach died in Charing Cross Hospital on 7th December, 1854. He was 40, and a dealer in old clothes. There was a coroner's inquest held 37 days after the death. The cause of death statement is hard to read, but it appears to say, 'compound fracture of elbow joint, by a fall with a man he threw in Brewer Street.' The latter is in London's West End, in what is now Chinatown. Charing Cross would indeed be the nearest hospital."

FATAL QUARREL. - Yesterday Mr. Bedford held an inquest at Charing-cross Hospital on the body of Charles Mayersbach. Deceased was about six weeks ago playing at cards in the Coach and Horses, Brewer-street, Golden-square, with a man named Braid. They quarrelled and fought, and Mayersbach's arm received a compound fracture. Amputation was performed on the 2nd instant, and the sufferer sank. The jury returned an open verdict, but the coroner caution both Braid and the landlord, who had permitted the play.
