P.c. Lewis said he found accused lying on the pavement at 1.30 p.m. outside the Durham Ox. His face was covered with blood and he could not stand. He was taken to the police station, where he was unable to understand questions. Later in the afternoon he was able to answer and said, "you have got your job to do and I am going to have a go."
Accused said he had had an injury. His knee-cap gave way and he fell on his face. He could remember no more.
The Chairman: That would not make you drunk!
Accused was fined 10s.
