BERTEACOURT | 21/7/16 |
Visited the front line on 18th inst. and was much impressed by the splendid
work carried out by Our Troops at FRICOURT, MAMETZ, and MAMETZ WOOD
it proved the efficiency of our Artillery in making the Infantry advance
possible. I consider all senior Battalion Officers should have the opportunity of
seeing the Battlefield. Training being carried out daily. 6.30 am, 7.30 am
9 am 12 noon, 2 pm 5.30 pm. Officers Training Class in Lewis Gun 7 pm to 9 pm

The following reinforcements have arrived
|
BERTEACOURT | 21/7/16 | 2nd LIEUT MOYES who arrived and reported for duty today, is one of two Officers who should have arrived with Reinforcements in March at Tel el Kebir. I have constantly asked that 2nd Lieut MOYES & Kerr be sent to my Batalion and recently was informed by ANZAC that they would be sent. 2nd LIEUT MOYES informs me that when the order reached the 4th Training Battalion he was on leave in LONDON. & 2nd LIEUT Kerr present with the Training Battalion. Yet the H.Qs 4th Training Battalion informed Australian HQs LONDON that they did not know LT MOYES ADDRESS. and that Lieut Kerr was in France. this last effort of the HQs 4TH Training Battalion is in keeping with their past effort to block the transfer of these Officers to the 48th Bn |
