BEAUVAL | 7/9/16 | Left HERRISSART at 8.25. 6/9/16 arrived BEAUVAL 12 noon went into billets men marched well. works carried out during afternoon cleaning of Arms and Equipment inspecting of Boots and feet. Painting of transport. |
BEAUVAL | 9/9/16 | Left BEAUVAL 8/9/16 for DOULLENS at 1.15 pm entrained for PROVEN arrived at 11.55 pm. marched a distance of 7 miles through POPENNGOHO. to CONNAUGHT CAMP. the place is most suitable. very clean, and the men very comfortable in Huts and Tents. |

POPERINGHO | 11/9/16 | 34 Reinforcements arrived today mostly returned from Hospital Engaged Picture Hall at POPERINGHO and took the men of the Battalion. I think every opportunity should be given men when out of the line to get as much pleasure as possible. it helps to take their mind off the ?? times they have when in the trenches. and I feel sure improves their moral?. |

POPERINGHO | 27/9/16 | Conditions normal during night. 2 O Ranks wounded. Enemy heavily bombed our trenches during early morning, a good deal of damage done to trenches, but no Casualties. Work of improving line gone on with. POPPY LANE none too safe. |
VIERSTRAAT | 29/9/16 | Situation Quiet. a little ??ping. and the Enemy action with heavy trench mortars. only one Casualty. a good deal of damage done to trnech by TAM? TAAS?. men actively employed draining trenchs and repairing parapets. Directed Artillery Fire on Machine Gun Emplacement and Trench Mortar apparently with excellent results. 72 Reinforcement arrived today. Health of the men good. arranged to change socks daily and have them washed. also arranging to build Coffee house, this will enable men to have hot Coffee going and coming from Trenches. |
VIERSTRAAT | 30/9/16 | Raid carried out by members of 46 Bn from our Front line trenches. attack commenced at 10pm. our Artillery placed heavy fire on Enemy front line trench. this lifted at 10.5 pm onto his Support and Communications trenchs. one wounded German was brought in. We lost 2nd Lt Gunner and one other Rank Killed and two ranks wounded by Enemy Artillery fire. finished building Coffee stall yesterday, and during last night supplied all men going in and coming from trenches with hot Coffee. this is a fine institution and should be adopted everywhere for front line troops. Weather fairly fine and the health of the Battalion good. |
