MAMETZ 2/12/16 Weather fine but cold. ??? very bad. working parties busy cleaning up Camp. Constructing latrines, building Roads. Special Battalion Hospital dealing with all Cases of chill and sore feet. Hot Coffee & Bovril provided for all ranks.
DERNANCOURT 4/12/16 Battalion entrained at WILLOW SIDING at 8.45 am today and moved to MEAULTO. detrained at that Station and marched to DERANCOURT and went into Billet. There has been a great improvment since our last stay in this Village. Beds having been buildt in most of the Barns.
DERNANCOURT 6/12/16 140 Reinforcements joined the Battalion they look a very fine lot. a large number of men suffering with Colds. works Carried out Physics Bull, Running, Bayonet Fighting. S???? Rifle Exercises. Guard & Sentries.
DERNANCOURT 7/12/16 Held an inspection of all Company's and P???? today, found everyone with a few Exceptions very well equipped.
DERNANCOURT 9/12/16 Inspection by Divisional Gas Officer. Weather very wet.
DERNANCOURT 10/12/16 3856 Pte Bishop W.J. died on his way to Field Ambulance. his body was returned to the Battalion and buried this morning in the local Cemetery with full military honors [sic]

GENERAL BIRDWOOD Visited the Area this afternoon.

DERNANCOURT 12/12/16 Weather still very wet. only work under Cover can be done all Ranks being instructed in use of Lewis Guns. 1 Officer and 15 men deatiled to repair bunks in billet and to build new ones where none exist.
DERNANCOURT 14/12/16 Many men suffering with Cols, also 12 have been evacuated recently suffering from mumps. Mostly Reinforcements.
DERNANCOURT 16/12/16 Teh Brigade Commander inspected the Battalion this morning Full marching order. Transport moved at 11 am on the way to near? GUN FLESSELLES.
DERNANCOURT 17/12/16 Entrained at rop??? for FLESSELLES arived there 2.45 am. marched into Billets.
DERNANCOURT 21/12/16 Sanitation of last unit very bad. have cleaned up and built latrines. Very few bunks in Billets. when timber and wire is available will start building. If each unit tried to improve Condition things would soon be Comfortable in the back area. Mjr General Cox inspected Battalion Gun on the morning of 20th. Cases of Mumps occuring.
FLESSELLES 23/12/16 Musketry started on range built by Battalion at NAVOURS. 30 ??? by Company's fairly good. Weather wet, and very muddy. Lewis Gunners carried out practice. Scouts did Snap? Shooting.
FLESSELLES 24/12/16 Route march to VILERS BOCAGE with transport.
FLESSELLES 25/12/16 Xmas Day Voluntary Church Parade Gifts from Australian Comfort Fund districtued to men. Supplemented bu Puddings &c from Battalion Funds, Sergts Dinner. Officers Dinner Xmas night. Brigadier and Staff attended. Major General Cox inspected Battalion Gun and saw the men at Dinner.

Special leave has been given to selected men since the Battalion has beeb at FLESSELLES to Visit AMIENS. this has been much appreciated. no cases of Absence without leave have occurred. men were medically treated on their return

FLESSELLES 26/12/16 Musketry Continued, Special training in attack practices.
FLESSELLES 27/12/16 Route march to HAVERNAS. 6 miles. marching order.
FLESSELLES 28/12/16 Battalion Parade presentation of Congratulatory Cards. from MAJOR GEN COX Route march to VIGNACOURT marching good. no one fell out.
FLESSELLES 29/12/16 Capt COLLINS A.J. A.A.M.C. reported for Duty Vice MAJOR WOLLARD. transferred to 12th F.A.
FLESSELLES 31/12/16 Route march 9 miles no one fell out. health of men good.
