JUDY SLAYBACK - 67, of Greens Farms died peacefully at Norwalk Hospital in the arms of her daughters and husband on the evening of August 8, 2006. The cause was complications from her valiant 2 1/2 year struggle with esophageal cancer.
Judy was born on November 5, 1938, in Schenectady, New York, to Eunice and Oliver Pinter. She held an associate degree in business from Cobleskill College, and late won B.S. and M.S. degrees in freshwater biology from the University of Bridgeport. After work as an environmental analyst for the City of Stamford Environmental Protection Board and late the environmental consulting firm Environmental Design Associates in Wilton, Judy joined with Matt Popp to found Slayback & Popp, Environmental Land Solutions in 1996. Based in Norwalk, the firm specializes in wetlands evaluations and mitigation and landscape architecture for commercial and residential projects. She donated her scientific knowledge to terms on the Westport Conservation Commission and Flood and Erosion Control Board.
In addition to her husband Ross Slayback, Judy is survived by her two daughters, Leigh Reed of Highland, Maryland, and Judith Lynn Sikora of Manassas, Virginia, and her four adored grandchildren, Derek and Kelly Sikora, and Taylor and Dana Reed, the great loves of her life. She was also blessed with two cherished sons-in-law, Rob Reed and Gary Sikora. Judy is also survived by her sisters, Patricia Childers of Winter Park, FL, and Eunice Simmons of Scotia, NY, and her brother, Oliver Pinter of New Brunswick, Canada.
Judy's family will receive friends at the Harding Funeral Home, 210 Post Rd. E., Westport, Monday August 14th from 5 to 7:30 pm. No flowers please. Memorial contributions in honor of Judy may be sent to the Whittingham Cancer Center, 24 Stevens St., Norwalk, CT 06856.
