Notes

He was born in Cleethorpes 1902 and spent most of his childhood in Hull. His parents married there (his mother was from Birkenhead with her family coming from Lancashire and Yorkshire.) My dad's father was born in Bungay, Suffolk.

Wilfred Plumb spent 15 years in the army nine of those in India, between the first and second war. He was invalided out in 1938.

He became a carpenter and worked for the aircraft factory in Coventry during the war.

In 1944, we moved to London, Forest Hill and we were there when the flying bombs fell. We were surrounded by bombsites growing up.

We moved when I was almost 11 [about 1955] to Blackheath near Lewisham as they pulled all the remaining houses left on our side of the street and built a big housing estate.

He died August 30 1970
