Having volunteered in June 1915, he was sent to France in September, and whilst on the Western Front took part in the Batttles of the Somme and Ypres and other important engagements in various sectors. He load doen his life for King and Country at Cambrai on December 6th, 1917, and was entitled to the 1914-15 Star, and the General Service and Victory Medals.
