Mr Bernard Stone, of North Wingfield, and previously of Danesmoor and Horsley Woodhouse, has died at Chesterfield Royal Hospital, aged 86.
Born at Coxbench and a resident of the area for 30 years, he worked as deputy wages manager at the National Coal Board, retiring in 1981.
Mr Stone played golf until early 2000, cricket for Stainsby until into his 50s and was a football referee.
He leaves a widow Edith, one son, one step-son, one step-daughter and four grandchildren.
Cremation takes place at Chesterfield on Wednesday at 12.30pm.
