AUTOTERMS TO PAY DAMAGES

DARWIN, Thurs: Judge Wells today awarded Thomas Allison Holt, of Roper River Station, £162 damages against Autoterms Ltd, Melbourne.

Hold alleged that a bomb scow he bought from Autoterms was misrepresented, and claimed £375 from the firm and Donald Speed, manager and a director.

Speed at present is serving a sentence of 12 months' imprisonment in Fanny Bay Gaol.

Judge Wells said he considered there had been no misrepresentation by Speed, but there was evidence of misrepresentation by the company's Northern Territory manager.

He considered the amount awarded would be sufficient to permit the boat being restored to the condition in which Holt believed it to be at the time of the purchase.
