In consequence of the extraordinary vacancy which has occurred in the Northcote Council, caused by the resignation of Cr. Waters, who is leaving the district, an election took place on Friday. There were two candidates, Mr. S. L. Bagley, auctioneer, and Mr. Herbert Tidswell, bricklayer. Shortly after the close of the poll, Mr. McLean, who acted in the capacity of returning officer, declared the result as follows:- Mr. Bagley, 114; Mr. Tidswell, 99, thus leaving a majority in favor of Mr. Bagley of 15.
