Everybody's Column

The second New Year's dinner was given to upwards of one hundred of the poorest children of Southwark on Saturday at the Blue Schools, Union-street, Borough. The dinner - an unlimited one of roast beef and plum pudding - was greatly enjoyed by the little ones, some of them testifying their appreciation of Mr. Philerx? - the contractor's - efforts by sending up their plates three or four times to be replenished. The Rev. H.W. Wombill, of St. Saviour's Church, Southwark, kindly presided. This dinner was the result of a collection made amongst her friends and neighbours by Miss M. Miller, of 32, Southwark-street.
