The death occurred on Friday of Mr John Woodard, who arrived at Lyttelton by the Zealandia, in the year 1858. Mr. Woodard resided in Christchurch up till the time of his death. He carried on the business of a bootmaker, and was said to have been the first of that trade to open in Christchurch, his shop being on Papanui Road, then called Whateley's Road. Mr. Woodard leaves a widow, four sons, three daughters and twenty-nine grandchildren.
