to bed. The other 2, Corp Nicholson & Pte OShaugnessy went
towards their billet & I went towards the latrines.

The next thing I remembered, - I was getting a bit muddled, -
was that the accused was on top of me on the ground.
I heard Sergt Jones' voice telling accused to get up.
The accused got up off me & then Sergt Jones put me
in the guard room.

Accused was in the room with us anything from a quarter
of an hour to ¾ hour.

When he first entered the room accused was under
the influence of drink, & when he left the room he was still so.

I don't know why accused sat on top of me.

XX. Cross examined by accused's friend:

We were drinking wine in the estaminet. We brought it
in bottles. I am not sure whether the estaminet
was supposed to be closed at 8pm. I was drunk
& a bit muddled. At orderly room on Monday morning I did
not say I did not remember what happened. I said I
did not remember too tell what had occurred. This was when
I was up for drunkeness before my company commander.

I was up before the C.O. the same afternoon.

I am not absolutely certain who said "Goodnight" or who
invited accused to have drinks.

Accused did not take his coat off.

I don't remember accused asking me for my name, then
running away & accused catching me.

We had a good many drinks. I remember some things
that happened clearly. I had no more drink after
accused left the estaminet.
