4th Witness
for
Defence

Major J.R.B.O'Sullivan 48th Bn. is sworn &
examined by accused's friend:-

I remember on Monday 19th June having a
man named Haskins up before me. The charge
was I think resisting arrest & disobeying an order.
The man pleaded guilty & said he was drunk, nothing
else.

XX. Cross examined by prosecutor

He said nothing else whatever. Before the
C.O. Haskin's case was dismissed.

His evidence is read to witness. R.P.83B complied
with. The witness withdraws.

5th Witness. Lt.F.Anderson 48th Bn. is sworn &
examined by the accused's friend:-

I remember Sat. 17th June. I was with Mr Elliot.
About 10pm he & I went into the mess billet & saw
the accused here. Soon after we went to bed.
We talked to the accused both inside & outside
the house. I saw no signs of intoxication
in the accused.

XX Cross examined by prosecutor:-

I saw accused for about 10 minutes at
the mess billet. I remember no light in
the room. It was a darker than usual night.
I judge from 10 minutes conversation that accused
was not drunk according to my standards.

I have known accused about 6 weeks. His only
peculiarity that I know of is his quietness.

Accused had no drink that I saw that day.

I did not see accused again that night. I
was asleep when he came to bed.

Accused was sober - that I will swear.
